Backgrounds:
The Kanas Region is divided into :The Kanas Resort,the Buffer Zone between the Kanas Resort and the Kanas Reserve, the Central Area in the Kanas Reserve
The Kanas Resort includs: Bahaba Village,villages on the southern bank of the Kanas Lake,traveling resorts around Hemu
The Buffer Zone between the Kanas Resort and the Kanas Reserve includes:Naren River Vally,Kanas Bay to the west bank of Kanas Lake,the west region of Black Lake
The Central Area in the Kanas Reserve:the west bank of the Kanas Lake –north river valley of the Kanas lake—frontier area of Youji Mountain
Our horsing riding route goes deep into the Buffer Zone between the Kanas Resort and the Kanas Reserve, getting a unique view of the region. Most of the area the riding route covers is no man’s land and it is best for outdoor sports. The traveling route was recommended in the spring of 2005 and there are several hundred riders and hikers coming there. With the improvements the developments done to the route and the neighboring area to ensure maximum safety in the past few years, the route has become famous among outdoor sports lovers.
![]() Best Season:
Although it is appropriate for riders or hikers to go to Kanas, the best season for Kanas is the beginning of June and the end of September. People are warmly received by a variety of flowers in the spring and different shades of colors of the plants in the autumn. But it is advisable the travelers there to prepare for the distinct difference in day and night temperature and possible rainy weather. It is cool in summer but be sure not to be exposed to insects like mosquitoes.
Activity Description
![]() Day 1. Take 8.00pm train from Wulumuqi to Habahe County.
Day 2. Arrive in Habahe County at 8.00am. Have breakfast and go through administrative procedures. Take SUV auto s at 11am and arrive at Baihaba village before 6.00pm. Lunch is eaten at a place called Tileke. In Baihaba village, travelers can enter into the beauty of the setting sun in the dusk. Good dinner is waiting for the travelers. And log cabins are used to accommodate travelers. Day 3. Kick off at 10.00am and go westward along the boundary river. Ride through Dongguoleke Pasture to get to Naren Pasture before night. Cold food for lunch and hot food for dinner. Camp or log cabin for the night.
Day 4. Kick off at 10.00am from Naren Pasture. After 4 hours’ riding, mount a mountain overlooking the Twin lake and the Kanas Lake. Go back to Naren Pasture before dark. Cold food for lunch and hot food for dinner. Camp or log cabin for the night.
Day 5. Kick off at 10.00am from Naren Pasture. Go westward long the Naren river valley to get to No.4 boundary mark. Then go southward and get to Telisahan before night. Cold food for lunch and hot food for dinner. Camp or log cabin for the night.
Day 6. Kick off at 10.00am from Telisahan. Mount a mountain and see the Kanas Lake. Cold food for lunch. Accommodations in small hotels run by local families. Hot food for dinner.
Day 7. Sightseeing in the Kanas Resort. Leave the resort for Buerjin at 2.00pm. Accommodations in guesthouse.
Day 8. Take the 11.00am train for Wulumuqi.

1. Day 1: Team member can choose to rent a car to go to Habahe County and stop to do sightseeing in Wuerhe Devil’s City on the way. Spend the night in Habahe County and join the team on the morning of Day 2. Team member can alternatively spend the night in Buerjin and enjoy the scene and food there.
2. Day 7: Team member can choose to depart from Kanas earlier than standard schedule to take the 7.00pm train and arrive in Wulumuqi on next morning.
If any team member takes the above options, the team member should notify the team leader upon application. The team leader can make appropriate arrangements accordingly at the cost of the team member. But the ticket fee for the train from Buerjin to Wulumuqi on Day 8 can be deducted from the total fees. Team member should not ask for any other alterations than the 2 above options.
Standards for Accomodations:
1、There is a chef along with every team and preparing hot food and water for breakfast and dinner. The food includes fresh vegetables, meat, drinks and alcohol. Lunch is mainly cold food. Canteen food in city and the resort.
2、 Tents and other camping equipments can be provided to the team member. 3 star hotel accommodations in Buerjin. No bathroom in the open country. Hotels in Wulumuqi can be booked if needed.
3、 Transportation includes car renting and public transportation. In the open country,it will be mainly horse riding. The
number of horses and the number of team members will be 1:1. Draft horses not included.
Working Staff:
Experienced team leader, field coordinator and coachfellow. The number of working staff and the number of tea members is
approximately3:1.

Equipments provided to the team: cooking equipments, transportation vehicle, equipments for communications, basic medication, camping and lighting equipments.
Equipments provided to the team member: camping equipments(tent, moisture proof cushion, spare sleeping bag.)、cooking ware, light fixture.
Equipments that should be prepared by team members: sleeping bag(-5 degree),clothes for warmth for 0 degree
or below, waterproof clothes, raincoat, gloves, cap, sun proof lotion, medicine, washing stuff, knapsack, bag
for personal things
A team includes 3-15 members.

Route organizer and advisor: Jack(E_mail:uniquetrip.sh@gmail.com). Jack has rich experiences in adventures in Kanas , Hemu, and Bahaba region. Having been team leader for dozens of times in long distance hiking and horse riding, he is now a professional team leader for outdoor activities.
References:
Kanas Reserve: With a geographical coverage of 5588 sq.km, kanas Reserve is a region with good and rare ecosystem .There are 798 species of vegetation of which 30 species are rare. There are 39 species of animals, 117 species of birds and 7 species of fish. Among these animals, there are 5 species of first degree protected animals and 13 species of second degree of protected animals. More than 60 dicoveries of new species of insects and epiphytes have been recorded. Kanas Reserve is an expanse of Siberian ecosystem and it is at the same time the place of lowest altitude where mountainous glaciers are located.
Kanas Resort: Outside Kanas Reserve and located on the south bank of Kanas Lake, it is a famous resort with convenient transportation. The ticket box and accommodation area is now in Jiadengyu, 30 kilos away from the resort. The ticket price is 230RMB including the transportation from Jiadengyu.
Twin Lake----Jiasikule: Twin Lake is two tributary lakes of Kanas Lake. Twin lake is located in the buffer area and has been more and more known to travelers in recent years.
Naren River valley: Main tributary river in the upstream of Haba River, the river valley is the summer pasture of Tuwa people. The famous Naren pasture is located in the river valley. The bordering region in the west part of the pasture is especially manificent.
Naren pasture: The biggest summer pasture along Haba River. The pasture is in use from June to September. It is open to traffic only in summer. The traffic condition is very bad.
Hutou Mountain is located in the southeast of Twin Lake and it is like a door to the central region of Kanas Reserve. People can get a bird’s view of Kanas Lake and Twin Lake on top of the mountain, which makes the mountain one of the most famous sights.
Telisahan: The last camping site with lush grasses on the way back to Kanas. But there are many swamps there in summer. Be sure to follow the team leader.
